Our Wine Tour in Rattlesnake Hills

A few weeks ago, Jen and I went on a wine tour with some people from my work. We went to a few wineries around Yakima, WA, in an area called "Rattlesnake Hills."

It was a fun little trip, and we had some really good wines on the way. We visited five wineries: Bonair Winery, Silver Lake, Hyatt Vineyards, Two Mountain Winery, and Paradisos Del Sol.

They were all pretty small wineries. Silver Lake is probably the best known. Its wines appear in grocery stores in the west. But all of the wineries were fun to visit. I think my favorite was the Two Mountain Winery, which is basically a barn behind someone's house. It's named Two Mountain Winery because of its views of Mount Ranier and Mount Adams off to the west.

The wine tasting bar is a slab of oak set on oak barrels. Jen and I bought two bottles of their 2005 Dry Riesling--a Riesling with zero sugar. Some of my other favorites included Hyatt Vineyards' Black Muscat and one of Bonair Winery's Chardonnays. Fun times were had by all. : )

This looks like it was fun! I'm thinking of planning a trip to some of the vineyards around here for me and Jim now.
